Eighteen-year-old Eric Pross was charged on Thursday with causing the death of 18-year-old Zahair Khan following an accident along Vlissengen Road, Georgetown, last Saturday.
Pross, from Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara (ECD), appeared before Magistrate Abigail Gibbs at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read to him, and to which he was not required to enter a plea.
Nevertheless, he was granted $600,000 bail with the conditions that he lodge his passport at the Sparendaam Police Station and report to the Police every Monday until the determination of the matter.

Pross is expected to make his next court appearance on October 2, 2026. It was reported that both the now- deceased young man and Pross were travelling in the same vehicle at a high speed when it toppled several times.
At the time of the accident, Pross was the driver. Both Khan and Pross sustained injuries and were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where Khan succumbed while receiving medical attention.
