Two men were on Sunday morning arrested with illegal firearms during separate Police operations.
The Police have said that arrests were made in Pineapple Street, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown and at Micobie Village in Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni). In both instances, the men were caught with illegal firearms and ammunition.
It was reported that the first incident occurred at about 04:00h at Pineapple Street, East Ruimveldt. Police have said an 18-year-old male suspect of Rasville, Roxanne Burham Gardens, Georgetown was found with a .38 revolver without ammunition. 
Acting on information received, a party of Policemen went to Pineapple Street and conducted a search on the suspect. At the time, he was carrying a blue Lacoste shoulder bag which contained the .38 revolver.
He was arrested and taken to the East La Penitence Police Station pending charges.
And at Micobie Village, a 30-year-old male security guard was arrested with a 9mm Glock 19 pistol and nine live matching rounds. It was reported that, after receiving information, a party of Police ranks conducted a search at Lalo’s Shop at Micobie, and the suspect was found with the black 9mm Glock 19 pistol hidden in his crotch. There was a magazine containing the nine live matching rounds.
As a result, the accused was asked if he was a licensed firearm holder, and he produced a precept on behalf of a security service. He was arrested and escorted to the Mahdia Police Station, where the firearm and ammunition were lodged. (G9)
