Teen sentenced to 2 months in prison for larcency

140211103334-large copyA teen who resides at Lot 32 Princes Street, Georgetown, was sentenced to two months imprisonment on a simple larceny charge when he appeared before Magistrate Renita Singh at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Kurt Robeson pleaded guilty to the charge which stated that on August 3, he stole one Samsung Galaxy valued $46,000, property of Claudia Brotherson.

The prosecution’s facts stated that on the day in question, the Virtual Complainant (VC) was shopping at a store on the corner of King and Charlotte Streets when the defendant walked into the store and picked up the phone that was on the counter. The VC raised an alarm, the defendant was arrested by City Constables and the phone was recovered.

The defendant who told the court that he does “clean-up work” as a profession contended that he asked who the owner of the phone was before taking it into possession but no one answered.

Magistrate Singh told the teen that he should use the sentence given to consider his actions and get a better job that will be able to buy the things he desired instead of stealing.
