Teen shot while stealing coconuts

A 17-year-old labourer was on Tuesday shot once to his chest by a licensed firearm holder after he reportedly attacked a businessman at his Strathspey, East Coast Demerara (ECD) property.
The teenager, of Coldingen, ECD, was reportedly in the process of stealing coconuts when he was confronted by the businessman and in retaliation, the teenager reportedly attacked the businessman with the cutlass that he used to cut the coconuts.
The businessman whipped out a pistol and discharged a round, hitting the teenager to his left chest. Another teenager who was working along with the injured teen was also found on the businessman’s property with a donkey cart. He was arrested by the Police.
The injured teen was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. He is in stable condition. The businessman has been detained and is assisting with investigations.
