Nineteen-year-old Morris Khan of Lot 1 Old Road, Craig, East Bank Demerara was on Tuesday arraigned before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on an attempted murder charge, which detailed that on February 15, 2018 at Old Road Craig, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Oswald O’Brien with intention to murder him.
Khan was not required to enter a plea to this indictable charge.
According to Police Prosecutor Bharat Mangru, the virtual complainant (VC) is currently a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC). Mangru revealed that on the day of the incident, Khan had taken up a bicycle bar and had dealt the VC several lashes about his body. The VC fell to the ground and was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
Khan was denied bail and was remanded to prison. The case will continue on March 16.
