Teen stabbed during brawl with fishermen

Nineteen-year-old Suresh Balroop of Mosquito Hall, Mahaica, ECD has been hospitalised after being stabbed in the chest by a fisherman on Tuesday evening at the Unity foreshore, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Based on reports received, the incident took place at about 21:15h at the Unity Seawall, and the suspects involved are a 41-year-old fisherman and a 33-year-old male, both of Unity, Mahaica, E.C.D.
The Police have said that the teenager and the suspects had had a previous misunderstanding, and on the day in question, the suspects and other family members were at the Unity Seawall when the teenager reportedly attacked them with a cutlass, dealing the 41-year-old suspect one blow to his back.
This results in a scuffle among the men, during which the teenager was stabbed to his right-side chest. He was taken to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital, where he was treated before being transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The injured teen has been admitted to the Georgetown medical facility, while the two perpetrators have been arrested and are assisting with investigations.
