Teenaged songwriter eyes musical career

Eighteen-year-old Josiah Matthew Mohabir, who was born at the Georgetown Public Hospital to Rampaul and the late Pampela Samaroo Mohabir, has set his eyes on becoming one of the most versatile singers in the music industry.
He is the last of seven siblings with the others being Ryan, Paul, Francina, Alicia, Marissa and Melinda Mohabir.
He attended the Comenius Primary School and after writing the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA), he was awarded a place at Houston Secondary School, where he completed his secondary education. Mohabir, who has a passion for music, grew up in Grove, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

a lot about life and more so, came to know the true meaning of it.
Education has played an important part in shaping his mind and now that he has a secondary education, he can look forward to a brighter future.
He started to sing in church and continued to test his vocals as he thought his talent was a gift bestowed upon him. Music helps him to relax his mind and more so act as a vehicle to share his feelings with the world.
“There are a lot of chaos and tragic things happening and through music I can inspire and help others in a positive and uplifting way by allowing them to believe in their self and build a change for a better future,” he told Guyana Times Entertainment.
Although he started to write his music when he was 14, but was exposed to music at an early age. He was taught the concepts of music and more so, had enough time to train his vocals in preparation for his career in the music industry.
He is drawn towards Soul, Pop Rock, Country and Classic Rock since they are more meaningful and powerful. Thus far, the young man has written about 20 songs – all are based on life experiences and future goals. Although he has not recorded any of his songs owing to finances, he is optimistic that everything will fall into place when the time is right.
He hopes to build a brand for himself with a strong background, but first he has to accumulate savings.
His biggest role models are Jennifer Lopez and Kelly Clarkson, as they have inspired him to get into music and their music encourages him to push even harder in life. He perceives himself as going through the same hardships as they did, but they still managed to be successful in life.
In another five years, he sees himself as becoming the musician that he has always wanted to be, helping others around the world and being a role model to others. He also sees himself as someone who will urge those wanting to give up, to live their dreams.
When he makes a name for himself and becomes an international artiste, he wishes to share the stage with Clarkson whom he described as a fantastic singer. Singing one of her hits with her would be a dream come true.
On a lighter note, this talented songwriter cites “Piece by Piece” by Kelly Clarkson; “Gravity” by John Mayer; “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston and “Just like Fire” by Pink as songs he truly enjoys.
His favourite foods are fried chicken with macaroni and cheese, fried rice and barbecue.
