Teenagers held at gunpoint in foiled Better Hope robbery
In another brazen attack, bandits on Thursday afternoon held two females under the age of 18 when they attempted to rob a Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, furniture store.
According to information gathered, around 14:30h, two bandits, one of whom was armed, rolled up on a black CG motorcycle at the Pradeep’s Furniture Store and demanded cash from the proprietor’s 16 and 17-year-old granddaughters. The teenagers were attending to the store at the time the would-be robbers infiltrated.
According to reports, the armed bandit took one of the girls to the back of the furniture store and placed a gun at her belly, demanding that she hand over the cash. The other bandit who was unarmed kept watch with the other young lady at the front. After it was explained that cash was unavailable, the gunman escorted the girl to the front but pointed the gun to the other sister.
At this point the girls’ father who is the proprietor’s son-in-law returned and the bandits assumed that he was a regular customer and left.
The ordeal has left the family shaken.
Proprietor Pradeep Jangbir told Guyana Times that police responded in less than 15 minutes and are currently investigating the attempted robbery.
Meanwhile investigations by Guyana Times revealed that the number plate of the motorcycle bares the registration number CF 6479.
