A landlord was on Wednesday morning shot two times to his legs by his tenant after the two had a row over an unpaid Guyana Power and Light (GPL) bill.
Injured is 47-year-old Andrew Doris of Kaneville Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara.
Guyana Times understands that Doris is the owner of a two-storey concrete house and was renting the South-eastern lower half to the 32-year-old suspect.
On Wednesday morning at about 09:00h, Doris reportedly confronted the tenant about the unpaid electricity bill and an argument ensued.
Doris reportedly attempted to lock the suspect out of the section of the house which he occupied.
This allegedly angered the suspect who reportedly whipped out a handgun and fired several shots in the air. The suspect then approached Doris and discharged three rounds in his direction, two of which struck him; one to his left thigh and another to his right knee.
After being shot, Doris reportedly fell to the ground while the tenant jumped on a bicycle and escaped.
Neighbours then assisted Doris and took him to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre.
The matter was reported to the Police who have since launched a manhunt for the tenant.
