Terrified mother begs for son to be jailed

Prakash Balgobin of Sophia, Georgetown was on Wednesday sentenced to two months imprisonment for damage to property when he appeared before City Magistrate Annette Singh. According to the Prosecution’s case, on February 12 at North Sophia Georgetown, Balgobin allegedly damaged the windows of his mother’s house. The windows valued ,000 and are the property of his mother, Sattie Balgobin.

The Court was told that Prakash Balgobin used threatening behaviour during the commission of the offence, thereby breaking the bond to keep the peace, additionally using threatening language towards his mother.

Police Prosecutor Simmons, explained that the virtual complainant (VC) is a member of the Salvation Army and the house was sold to the non-profit organisation prior to the incident, to be used as a home for those in need.

Balgobin was previously ordered by Magistrate Annette Singh to have a psychic evaluation and has been evading the Police ever since.

In court on Friday, the VC informed the court that she is terrified of her son and requested that he be “put away”. As such, Balgobin was jailed for two months for the offence.
