The Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG) through a partnership with Impressions and the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) on Wednesday commissioned the country’s very own iconic 3D “I love Guyana” sign/tourist park which is set to be enjoyed by both Guyanese and tourists.
The $5 million tourism initiative is viewed as more than just the perfect location for tourists to celebrate their visit to Guyana but more so a sign of patriotism within the country. This was expressed by THAG President Mitra Ramkumar as he shared a brief overview of the sign’s purpose.
“This sign is intended to serve as a gathering point for visitors who wish to celebrate their visit here through the sharing of photos and videos. Visitors will promote and create a positive of destination Guyana….while this ‘I love Guyana’ sign enhances our tourism product, THAG sees this sign as a lot more. It’s a symbol of national pride, unity, peace and love among Guyanese,” he stated.
The sign located on the lawns of the GBTI Corperate Office at Kingston, Georgetown; measures 12 feet in height and 30 feet in width, and is coated with the colours of the country’s flag.
Business Minister Haimraj Rajkumar during his remarks urged Guyanese to act their part when showing love for the country.
Among those present to celebrate the launch were Chairman of the Private Sector Commission, Gerry Gouveia and GBTI executives.
