A man who snatched a young lady’s bag at Good Hope, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) was on Tuesday afternoon caught and beaten by residents. He later succumbed to his injuries. Reports are the young lady was cornered by the thief who snatched her bag and attempted to escape. However, the woman raised an alarm and residents went in hot pursuit of the thief.
He was caught in the ruins of a house that was set alight just last year, resulting in the deaths of an elderly couple. This publication was told residents gave the man a good thrashing.
Following the beating, the man was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police have since launched an investigation.
