Home News Thieves burglarise NDC councillor’s home
Police are investigating a robbery, which occurred at Hyde Park, East Bank Essequibo, after bandits broke into the house of a 72-year-old Councillor of the Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC).
Reports are the incident occurred between 01:15h and 02:05h on Saturday morning.
Phillip France along with his wife, 68-year-old Sheila France, had secured their house at about 01:15h before retiring to bed. However, the elderly woman went into the living room less than one hour later to check the time when she discovered that several louvre panes from the western window were missing. Immediately, she alerted other relatives in the house and an alarm was raised. The family checked the entire property, discovering that the western access door was ajar.
The suspects would have carted off with a 48-inch flatscreen television valued at $300,000; a mountain bicycle, and clothing – all of which belonged to the elderly Councillor. Police have launched an investigation. (G12)
