Thieves raid businesses in Kalyan Mall

Two businesses were on Friday evening raided by suspected bandits following a break-and-enter at the Kalyan Shopping Mall located on Lamaha Street, Georgetown.

The discovery was reportedly made at about 08:00h on Saturday, when employees of the store turned up for work and realised that the His and Hers Clothing Store on the second floor and the Euphoria Beauty Salon on the lower flat had been burglarised.
The superintendent of the building said the robbers gained entry into the shopping plaza via a window which leads to the clothing store, which was found open.
This newspaper understands that surveillance footage obtained from a neighbouring building showed a man leaving the premises of the mall with a black bag which is suspected to contain the stolen items.
Owner of the His and Hers Clothing Store, Priya Sookram, told Guyana Times on Saturday that while a full assessment of her losses has not been conducted, it is estimated that over $1 million in goods were stolen, which include clothes, shoes and fragrances.
The matter was reported to the Brickdam Police Station and an investigation has been launched, but no one has been arrested.
