The international segment of the Independence Cup, sponsored by Homesafe Security in collaboration with the Sheltez Tennis Club, served off earlier today at the Recreational Facility of the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) at Bel Air Park in Georgetown.
The Under-12 tournament features local and Surinamese players, who will be involved in intense battle over the next three days.

Apart from the GBTI Recreational Facility, the Harry Panday Tennis Court will also host several matches in the three-day event.
In the first two matches, Guyanese Akilah Sekai Jones and Surinamese Kaeny DeNees emerged as victors after dominant performances.
In match one, Jones defeated her Dutch counterpart Liva Ven Essen 6-1, while in the other match, Kaeny DeNees triumphed over Tamisha Bendter 6-1 in the battle of the visitors.
