WICB Tri-Nation Series
ticket sales for the Guyana leg of the upcoming Tri-Nation Series which involves West Indies, South Africa and Australia will commence on Monday, May 23 at the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) office on Regent Road.
Tickets are expected to cost $4,000 for the Red and Green Stands; $3,000 for Orange Stand and $2,000 for Grass Mound.
In addition to the GCB office as a ticketing location, it is expected that the National Stadium will also be used in the coming days; patrons wishing to purchase online can do by visiting www.kyazoonga.com.
The matches slated for Guyana will be played on Friday June 3, where West Indies play South Africa, followed West Indies versus Australia on Sunday June 5 and finally the two visiting teams will play each other on Tuesday June 7.
After the first round of matches in Guyana, the tournament will head to Warner Park in St Kitts and Nevis for three more games and will conclude in Barbados with the final round of three matches and the grand final at the Kensington Oval on June 26. All 10 matches in the series will Day/Night affairs and are scheduled to bowl-off at 13:00hrs. This is the first time that a full series of matches will be played under lights in the Caribbean.
The three high profile matches at Providence are expected to mark the return of International cricket to Guyana after an absence of three years.
The last One Day International (ODI) that was played in the land of many waters was in July 2013 when West Indies beat the touring Pakistan by 37 runs in the second One Day International in the five-match rubber.
The Australians are currently ranked number one on the International Cricket Council (ICC) ODI rankings; the South Africans are in third while the West Indies are in eight place.
In the terms of the teams, the West Indies are expected to name their squad for the series in the coming days while two visiting team’s squads are already announced.
