Tiger Bay resident remanded on ganja possession charge

Twenty-seven-year-old Jermaine Charles of Rosemary Lane, Tiger Bay, Georgetown appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on Monday and professed his innocence after being accused of possession of cannabis.
Charles denied that on December 8, 2018, he had 88 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
However, Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore objected to bail being granted to the defendant after informing the court that the illegal substance was found in an oven during a raid by Police ranks in the community.
Despite the pleas of his attorney, Paul Fung-A-Fat for his client to be granted his pre-trial liberty, the Magistrate remanded Charles to prison. The case will continue on January 21, 2019.
