A 21-year-old Timehri, East Bank Demerara (EBD) man is now clinging to life at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was stabbed several times on Sunday night by a close relative of his girlfriend.
Denzel Brummel of Lot 12 Alliance Road, Timehri, was stabbed at about 23:00h following an argument while imbibing with his girlfriend’s 65-year-old relative at a Craig Old Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD) home.
The argument escalated and a scuffle ensued. The suspect subsequently left and went to a nearby house and returned with a knife. He then attacked and stabbed Brummel about his body, puncturing his lungs.
The police were called to the scene and the victim was rushed to the hospital, where he is currently in a critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The suspect has since been apprehended and is presently in Police custody as investigations continue.
