Despite intermittent rains, scores of children gathered to receive their toys and treats, which were presented to them by Santa Clause himself.
According to the Times Media Group’s Personnel Supervisor, Lisa Ahmad, the initiative was a success owing to overwhelming response from the staff and sponsors.
A few weeks prior to the activity, staff of the Media Group were asked to donate toys for both boys and girls; the activity was geared towards bringing joy to over sixty children living in impoverished communities nearby.
“I would say that we had overwhelming response. We catered for sixty children and we received toys for close to 100. It was a huge success,” Ahmad explained.
She emphasised too that the event, which is intended to be an annual activity, would not have been possible without immense support, particularly from the sponsors including Frank Sanichara from Sueria Manufacturing Inc which supplied FIKA snacks, Mogu Mogu juices and Kaieteur exotic candies, Pretima Singh from Carib Foods which donated Juice Time Juices and Renita Sital from Beepats for contributing Milo beverages.
Immediately following the activity, some of the children were invited onset of the live show ‘TVG’s a Guyanese Christmas’, where they expressed joy at having received toys and extended Christmas wishes to their friends and families.
