The Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU) extends warmest Christmas greetings of peace, hope, and goodwill to all public servants, current and retired, to every worker and their families, and to all Guyanese at home and abroad.
As Guyanese, we celebrate this season through cherished traditions that bring warmth and joy into our homes and communities, including festive decorations and carols that fill the air, church activities, family gatherings, gift-giving, shared meals, the joy of Santa Claus, and the vibrant presence of masqueraders.
Beyond the festivities, Christmas is a sacred season. At its heart is the birth of Jesus Christ, a timeless message of love, humility, peace, and service to humanity. It is a season that invites us to renew our commitment to values that transcend time: justice, compassion, dignity, and care for one another, especially the vulnerable, the elderly, the sick, and those facing hardships.
While the spirit of the season invites hope and reflection, it also brings into focus the realities many public servants continue to face, including unmet expectations from their employers and ongoing challenges in meeting the needs of their families and dependants.
In a year marked by rapid economic expansion, national transformation, and evolving demands on the delivery of public service, public servants have remained the backbone of our nation, delivering essential services, maintaining institutional stability, and upholding democratic governance, often under increasing pressure and expectation. The GPSU salutes your dedication, professionalism, and steadfast commitment, which continue to sustain Guyana’s growth and social cohesion.
As a union, we will continue our mission to engage in meaningful dialogue with all stakeholders, advocating to ensure that national development translates into improved livelihoods for workers and their families so that seasons such as Christmas are not a struggle to celebrate but truly blessed and joyous occasions, filled with God’s grace. Members, be assured that your safety, wellbeing and welfare will always remain our unwavering priority. We shall continue to advocate your right to earn a living wage and shall vigorously defend that your constitutional right to due process be adhered to at all times.
As we look ahead to 2026, the Union encourages renewed unity, commitment, and collective resolve to continue pursuing fairness, dignity, and improved conditions of service for all.
May this Christmas bring comfort to your homes, peace to your hearts, and renewed faith in your dreams and in the future.
On behalf of the Executive Council and Staff of the Guyana Public Service Union, we wish you a Happy and Blessed Christmas 2025.
