Tiwari wins Kissoon’s Mega Golf Open

Veteran golfer Kalyan Tiwari made light work of his fellow pros this past Saturday, as he claimed the coveted Kissoon’s Mega Store Tournament trophy among other spoils.
Despite early morning heavy showers, ongoing works to improve the Lusignan Golf Course’s drainage and dams paid off this past weekend as the mega event witnessed a large number of top players turning out.

players in; 2nd place Shanella Webster (N69/17), 3rd place Mike Mangal (N70/8) and 4th place Gavin Todd (N71/19). Prizes for, Longest Drive – went to Richard Haniff for his 320 yards, Closest to The Pin went to Mike Mangal who also copped the Best Gross award for his 78.
Other notable contenders in the top 10 net performances were; Parmanand Persaud 72/11; Aasrodeen Shaw 73/17; Brian Hackett 73/18; Mohanlall Dinanauth 74/6; Roy Cummings 74/11; David Harry 74/12 and LGC President Aleem Hussain 74/12. Kalyan who grabbed the top award along with side prizes which featured four gift vouchers, said following the tourney “The Course was good, the weather was fine and I had consistently good driver strokes, along with a great short game”. Meanwhile, former Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) President Hemraj Kissoon, the driving force behind the Open during his congratulatory remarks to the winners, said that Kissoon Group of Companies which has been associated with the LGC for some 50 years was happy to aid the Golf Club via sponsorship. He further reiterated his great support for all the improvements which have been happening since under the leadership of Hussain and his executives. Also, Kissoon commended former West Indies batting legend Shiv Chanderpaul who was a part of the Open, for coming out and supporting the event and further playing a key role in the development of sports in Guyana.
