Top horses confirmed for Port Mourant Turf Club’s MMP Meet
There will be what can be considered a grand rematch of the 13th annual Guyana Cup horse race meet on Sunday, September 29, when all the top horses turn out for the Port Mourant Turf Club’s Mohabir Mookoorchand Persaud (MMP) Foundation one-day race meet.
Among the top horses that have already been confirmed to participate in the MMP Meet are Guyana Cup champion Lucky Star, Vera’s Finally, Scores Even, Isn’t He Perfect, Justify the Heat, Catholic Boy, Gold Again, Storm Bird, Fresh Dancer, TnT, and the Nand Persaud champion horse Golden Blue Echo.
horses confirmed for the $1.2 million feature event are Lucky Star, Vera’s Finally, Don’t overlook, Storm Bird, Simple Slide, TnT, Golden Blue Echo, Settling Star and Scores Even.
The MMP Foundation has, over the years, developed a reputation for significantly assisting the less fortunate students financially, to enable them to write examinations of the Caribbean Secondary Examinations Council (CSEC). The sole purpose of this horse-racing event is to garner funds to assist the less fortunate students who will be sitting the 2020 CSEC exams.
Six exciting races (including the feature event) are on the programme, as are some of the top horses around. In this, the inaugural event of the Port Mourant Turf Club’s annual MMP horse race meet,
the penultimate race of the day is the feature ‘B and Lower’ 1300-metre race. Entries for horses will be $60,000, and the first prize is a purse of $1,200,000. Second prize is $300,000, while third prize is $150,000
Among the classified races are the L Class, the H and I Class, 2 Years Old Open (Guyana Bred), 3 Years Old Guyana Bred (Winner of less than four races), B and Lower and the J &K Class. (Brandon Corlette)
