TOTALTEC commences training for oil and gas industry
TOTALTEC Academy commenced its first Commercial Slinger/Banksman Safety and Operational training to the oil and gas industry in Guyana. The academy commenced the training with 23 Strategic Recruitment Solutions Inc. maritime personnel.
The International Petroleum and Maritime Academy (IPMA), with whom TOTALTEC is collaborating, is pleased to work with another Guyanese company in the Oil and Gas industry – Strategic Recruitment Solutions Inc. (SRSGY).
“We are pleased that SRSGY recognises that in the IPMA, there is a local company that provides the highest standards of safety and operational training in Oil and Gas that meets international requirements”, the organization stated in a release.
SRSGY last week made a request for a training course and in less than a week, the course has been set up with the instructor mobilised from Aberdeen, Scotland.
“We are proud to work with a fellow Guyanese company to provide opportunities to our fellow Guyanese citizens participating in our Oil and Gas industry’, Lars Mangal, President and CEO of TOTALTEC stated.
“This is a giant step in terms of Guyanese participation and local content development for the industry in Guyana. Having 23 new maritime personnel join the industry at this time is foundational and extremely positive for all concerned and committed to local content development”, he added.
In addition, Chief Executive Officer, Strategic Recruitment Solutions Inc. Kerri Gravesande-Bart explained that SRSGY has selected the TOTALTEC Academy as its local training provider for Rigging, Slinging and Banksman Certification.
This training, he noted is a prerequisite for several of the mariner positions that the company currently provides.
“This is an indication the local companies are developing and implementing standards to meet the needs of the offshore industry. We are proud that this local content initiative could be achieved by clients, local recruiters and local training providers. SRSGY will continue its mandate to build capacities through training and development as well as support local training institutions and businesses”, he stated.
