16 phase after the round-robin segment was completed last Saturday at the Santos Training Area, Brickdam.

Defending champions, Sparta Boss clinched their spot in the knock-out phase in a trilling match against Sophiathat ended 4-3.

Shemroy Arthur gave Sophia the lead in the fourth minute but the champs equalised in the 14th minute as Sheldon Shepherd scored, slotting home from the left side. Sophia would then retake the lead three minutes later when Desmond Cottam nettedwith a powerful strike into the top right hand corner.

It was all even again, as Gregory Richardson netted in the 22nd minute and one minute later to give Sparta Boss the advantage.

However, Sophia refused to go down quietly, as Dwayne Lowe scored in the 27th minute but it was Sparta Boss’ Eusi Phillips who snatched the dramatic win in the 38th minute.

In other results, Broad Street defeated Ministry of Public Health 4-1. Leon Richardson, Jimmy Gravesande, Devon Johnson and Jamal Cozier scored in the 18th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd minute respectively. Also on the score-sheet but on the losing side was Trevor Lewis in the third minute.

Meanwhile, Albouystown thrashed Young Ballers 5-0. Kemo Scott netted a hat-trick in the seventh, ninth and 12th minute while Roy Samuels and Lennox Cort scored one goal each in the fifth and 20th respectively.

For Queen Street, Alpha Fletchman, Darren Harris and Omallo Williams scored in the third, 12th and 29th minutes while an own goal in the 13th minute added to the score line.

Similarly, Bent Street and Kitty Weavers battled to a scoreless draw while Alexander Village and Leopold Street played to a 0-0 stalemate.

West Front Road and Queen Street Tigerbay battled to a high scoring 4-4 stalemate. Jermin Junior recorded a double for West Front Road in the 16th and 22nd minutes while Nathaniel Nagaloo also scored twice in the ninth and 28th minute.

The winner of the event will collect $300,000 and the championship trophy while the second placed side will receive $200,000 and the runners-up accolade.

On the other hand, the third placed side will receive $100,000 and the respective trophy while the fourth place finishers will pocket $50,000 and the corresponding title.

On the individual side, prizes will be awarded to the event’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Highest Goal Scorer.

Matches will continue on Sunday June 26 At the Ministry of Education Ground, Carifesta Avenue from 19:00 hrs.
