The 2017 edition of the Hamilton Green Knock-out Cup will resume next Friday (November 17) with the semi-final fixtures being played at the Victoria Ground, East Coast Demerara.
Action will begin at 19:00h with Soesdyke Falcons taking on Linden-based Winners Connection. The tournament began with 24 teams from across Guyana.
The second clash of the night will pit the in-form Police FC against Milerock in what is sure to be a high-octane game.
The final of the competition is set for the final day of this month, which is also a national holiday. The winners of the tournament will pocket $500,000 while the runners-up will receive $250,000; third place, $150,000 while the losers of the third-place playoff will receive $100,000 to round off the $1 million in total prize winnings.
Meanwhile, in honour of former Prime Minister and Georgetown Mayor Hamilton Green’s 83rd birthday, the organiser of the competition will kick off a nine-a-side, no-offside, 15 minutes-per-half knockout tournament.
In addition to the $70,000 first prize and $30,000 second prize, the winners of the nine-a-side competition will receive hampers from Ricks and Sari company, blankets from Food For The Poor, while the top scorer will receive a dinette suite from China Trading Company.
The first games of this nine-a-side tournament will be contested between Buxton Youth and Plaisance at 17:00h before next Friday’s Hamilton Green Knockout Tournament’s semi-finals.
The second game will be contested by Lima Dam and Buxton Stars at 17:30h while Mahaica play Golden Grove at 18:00h; Anns Grove will take on Kuru Kururu at 18:30h. These games will serve as great entertainment before the bigger semi-finals.
