Traffic Chief Linden Isles along with a team from the Guyana Police Force on Tuesday visited accident victims at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Isles during the visit explained that the visit was part of the GPF’s 180th anniversary observances.
“We’ve decided to come and visit the patients of the accident ward. We have been sharing out hampers to them and finding out about their matters so that we can have it investigated,” the Traffic Chief said during the tour of the medical facility.
A total of 15 patients – 10 males and five females – were visited, during which the Traffic Chief answered questions in relation to the progress of investigations into accidents during which they were injured.
He wished the patients a speedy recovery as he handed over hampers to them.
The Traffic Chief also visited a nine-year-old child on the East Coast of Demerara, who was left bedridden following an accident back in 2017. A donation was also made to the family.
As part of its anniversary, the GPF has embarked on a number of activities. Just recently $19.4 million was gifted to ranks who performed exceptionally so far in 2019.
The award ceremony was held at the Tactical Services Unit Drill Square, Eve Leary, and saw 36 community policing groups being awarded, while 36 rural constables were specially recognised.
The Force’s anniversary is being observed under the theme, “Serving and protecting our nation through collaboration and dedication”.
