Having a total of 26 teams and counting signalling their interest in competing in the third annual Transcend Entertainment’s Seven-a-Side Independence Cricket Festival event, promoter Dwight Dodson is confident the event will be a success.
Play in the event is scheduled to commence at 08:00 hrs today and tomorrow at the National Cultural Centre Tarmac in Georgetown.
In an invited comment, Dodson said, “I’d just like to encourage everyone to come out early and have a good time…teams are encouraged to bring out their supporters and be ready to compete with the best of the best.
“We express or sincerest gratitude to all our sponsors, ‘cause without them the festivals is practically impossible. We’re asking them to continue to work with us, as this festival is growing every year and we can assure them mileage for their investment….
“We would also like to invite other sponsors to come on board, as we seek to develop and give back to the people. We are most grateful to our sponsors. It is important that we mention that, because without them it wouldn’t be possible. In addition, Superbet Guyana has provided us with lots of giveaways for patrons.”
Some of the teams that are expected to participate are: Team Corruption, Village Rams, Tallawahs United, Tarmac, Eccles All Stars, Outlaws, and Hangover. Many other teams are, however, expected to participate.
This event, which has gained the support of the National Sports Commission (NSC), is so far sponsored by Superbet, Banks DIH, Ramps Logistics Ltd, Imperial Trading, Red Carpet Wash Bay, Regal Stationery and Computer Centre, Star Party Rentals, Xavier’s Investment, Movement Auto Sales, Precision Auto Works, W&J Enterprise, Fung-A-Fat Hatchery, Ole’s Jewellery, Seeta’s Bar, Regent Household Electronics, Royal Real Estate, Church’s Chicken, Fireside Grill, Magic City, S&D Enterprises, Movement Auto Rental & Bus Service, and Sankar’s Auto Works.
