A jury was empanelled on Thursday as High Court Judge Sandil Kissoon has fixed next Tuesday to commence a trial into the murder of Leopold Street, Werk-en-Rust mason Rawle Rodrigues.
Akeem Haymer called ‘Curry’ and Affiba Yenkana called ‘Dugla’ have pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleges that they murdered Rodrigues on January 20, 2017 during a robbery.
The trial will be conducted at the High Court in Demerara. State Counsel Lisa Cave and State Counsel Muntaz Ali are appearing for the prosecution, while Attorneys-at-law Rachael Bakker, Lawrence Harris and Hewley Griffith are representing the defence.
Reports are on January 20, 2017, Rodrigues, 43, was stabbed multiple times to his chest by three men at the route 32 minibus park in Georgetown. It was previously reported that the men had trailed Rodrigues from a nearby bar where he was seen consuming alcohol. (G1)
