The trial in the murder of Jason Bowen is underway. Bowen was found dead on October 12, 2019, with a belt around his neck at Church Street, Queenstown, Georgetown.
Ishaka John of A Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown, was arrested and charged for murder. John’s trial is currently ongoing before Justice Jo Ann Barlow and a jury at the Demerara High Court.
He has pleaded not guilty to the indictment for the capital offence. According to reports, at about 21:30h on October 12, 2019, Bowen and a man were involved in a scuffle on Church Street, Georgetown.
It was reported that that man dealt the now dead man several lashes about his body before wrapping a belt around his neck and proceeding to strangle him.
Public-spirited persons who witnessed the altercation rushed to assist the victim. At the time of his death, Bowen was 32 and resided at Camp Street, Georgetown.
It has been reported that he was killed during the commissioning of a robbery.
