The Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) came alive on Saturday morning as the American Chamber of Commerce Guyana (AmCham Guyana) hosted its much-anticipated Third Annual Golf Tournament, attracting a record 27 teams and 108 players for a day of competitive golf, corporate camaraderie and networking.

Played under the Better-Ball Stableford format, the tournament brought together golfers from across Guyana’s business community, with players enjoying the lush fairways and challenging layout of the Lusignan course on the East Coast of Demerara. The 2026 edition marked a significant increase in participation from last year, underscoring the growing popularity of the tournament and the strengthening relationship between AmCham Guyana, the local business community and the sport of golf.
After a closely contested battle on the fairways, Trident BMC-LLC, comprising Patrick Prashad, Kasim Khan, Ayube Subhan and Arnold Deo, emerged victorious with 22 points. Century Tamara, represented by Robin Tiwari, Kevin Boodram, Rabindranauth Persaud and Sheldon Davis, secured second place with 21 points, while Panko Team (LGC), featuring Lakeram Ramsundar, Jaipaul Suknanan, Bridgelall Harry and Rakesh Harry, finished third with 20 points.
The tournament also featured individual prizes, with Sheldon Davis claiming the Longest Drive award and Robin Tiwari taking the Closest to the Pin prize.
Addressing participants and guests during the awards ceremony, LGC Vice President Joseph Szeplaki expressed appreciation to AmCham Guyana for continuing to support golf and for bringing together members of the corporate and sporting communities.
“On behalf of Lusignan Golf Club, I want to extend sincere congratulations to all the teams and players who participated in this year’s AmCham Golf Tournament. We are grateful to AmCham Guyana for choosing Lusignan Golf Club as the venue and for its continued support of the sport.
“It is encouraging to see such strong participation from the business community. Tournaments like this not only provide an opportunity for healthy competition, but also create valuable opportunities for networking, friendship and collaboration.
“I also want to thank the sponsors, organisers, our club members and everyone who contributed to making today’s tournament a success. We look forward to continuing this partnership and to seeing golf grow even further in Guyana.”
According to the LGC, the tournament showcased the Lusignan Golf Club’s ability to host major corporate sporting events, with its nine-hole layout and 18 tee boxes providing a challenging yet welcoming environment for both seasoned golfers and newer players. Beyond the competition, the event provided an opportunity for businesses and professionals to strengthen relationships in a relaxed setting, reinforcing the role golf continues to play in bringing Guyana’s corporate community together.
Established in 2018, AmCham Guyana promotes stronger commercial relations between Guyana and the United States while supporting initiatives that contribute to business development and community engagement. Its annual golf tournament has become another avenue through which the organisation connects with the local business and sporting community.
The day concluded with a celebratory reception and awards ceremony, where players, sponsors and guests reflected on an enjoyable day of competition, sportsmanship and camaraderie. With corporate tournaments continuing to attract strong participation, the Lusignan Golf Club remains a key venue for competitive golf and business networking in Guyana, while the growing interest in the sport points to continued opportunities for its development.
