Trigger happy man to be charged for illegal gun possession

A man, who Police say discharged rounds at another man last Friday, was arrested and will be charged soon for alleged illegal possession of a gun and ammunition.
Ranks on a mobile patrol from the Sparendaam Police Station, East Coast Demerara (ECD), received a report of the discharge of a loaded firearm and went to the scene.

Upon their arrival, they were informed that the act was committed on a resident of Robert Road Sparendaam, ECD. This led to the seizure of a .22 pistol with one round and a .32 pistol with three rounds.
In a statement, Police said after a thorough investigation, one male was arrested and is expected to appear at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
Just a week ago one person was arrested following the discovery of an unlicensed firearm at Second Street Campbellville, Georgetown.
Based on reports received, at about 17:00h on the day in question, an intelligence-led Police operation was conducted in Second Street Campbellville, Georgetown, during which one .22 pistol without ammunition was found.
The firearm and the suspect were taken to the Kitty Police Station where he was subsequently charged. (G9)
