Trio accused of rape released on bail

Three men who were accused of rape were granted bail on Thursday when they appeared at the Springlands Magistrate’s Court.
In the first case, Kevin Clarke also called “Jickman”, 30, a goldsmith, was arrested on February 27, 2021, after he reportedly sexually assaulted a female. The incident reportedly occurred on February 24 last.
He appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore and pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him. He was granted bail in the sum of $30,000 and will make his next court appearance on September 23 for trial.
In addition, 19-year-old Nicholas Ishri of No 70 Village Corentyne, Berbice, was arrested on March 17, 2021, for indulging in sexual activity with a child under the age of 16.
During his court appearance, he was not required to plead to the charge but was nevertheless granted bail in the sum of $75,000 and the matter was adjourned to September 6, 2021, for report.
Finally, Tameshwar Persaud was reportedly arrested on June 23, 2021, and was charged for allegedly raping a child under the age of 16.
He was not required to plead to the charge but was placed on $150,000 bail and was ordered to return to court on July 29, 2021, for report.
