Trio busted by undercover cop with prohibited stimulant

Three persons who were caught selling an illegal stimulant by an undercover Police Officer were charged with possession of the illicit items and made an appearance in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Wednesday.
It is alleged that on June 6, at Charlotte Street, Georgetown, Omalo Garraway, 24, of Lot 71 Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown; Shivano Ubitana, 22, of Princes Street, Lodge; and Olivia Grimes, 23, of Norton Street, Lodge, had 40 amphetamine tablets amounting to 10.5 grams in their possession.
They pleaded not guilty to the charge after it was read to them by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
Police Prosecutor Neville Jeffers told the court that the trio was caught selling the items by an undercover Police Officer. He said that Police received information and held a sting operation, where a rank went undercover and purchased the tablets from the defendants.
They were subsequently told of the offence and arrested and charged.
Jeffers pointed out that the defendants have no antecedents and that an analyst report is still outstanding from the case file. They were each granted bail in the sum of ,000 and will return to court on July 5.
