Trio makes 2nd court appearance, remanded until next year
Blackwater NWD murder
Venezuelan nationals Angel Figuera, 20, and Gilberto Da Silva, 22, together with Guyanese Nadeem Baksh, 22, who have been charged for the murder of 26-year-old Kevin Allam, on Tuesday made their second court appearance -virtually – before Magistrate Dylon Bess at the Port Kaituma Police Station, and were further remanded to prison until January 7, 2021.
The charge that the trio faces alleges that on November 27, 2020, at White Water Backdam, North West District (NWD), they murdered Kevin Allam.
The Police are contending that, on the day in question, the late Allam’s reputed wife was at their shop when she was approached by the three men, who held on to her hair. Upon seeing this, Allam went to her assistance, but was attacked with a piece of wood and dealt several lashes about his body. After Allam fell unconscious, the three men dragged him a short distance from the shop, and one of them whipped out a knife and slit his throat.
After committing the act, the men reportedly left Allam in a pool of blood and returned to the shop, where they relieved his spouse of a quantity of raw gold. Allam was subsequently picked up and taken to the Port Kaituma Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police, acting on information, travelled to the waterfront and arrested the three men, against whom they subsequently instituted charges.
