Trio who threatened to kill President to be charged this week
Three persons who were arrested for threatening the life of President David Granger are expected to be slapped with criminal charges in this week.
This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Department on Sunday. “Yes, they will definitely be charged,” a rank stated. However, the rank disclosed that the exact day of arraignment has not been finalised.

The trio, inclusive of a 65-year-old pensioner, was detained by Guyana Police Force (GPF) ranks last week for several calls made to a hotline where they threatened the life of President Granger. The calls were received and recorded by the recently-initiated 911 emergency system at Brickdam on March 20, 2018.
This is not the first instance in which a citizen has been charged for similar crimes. Back in 2016, 52-year-old Safoora Salim of Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo (EBE), was charged for using Facebook to issue threatening and derogatory statements against the Head of State.
