The nation’s first ever Triple Crown is set to run off on February 18, March 4 and April 1 with over $20M up for grabs and the organizers have announced that a grand raffle has been added to mainly give turfites some fabulous prizes.
Huge giveaways to spectators are not strange to events organized by the Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee (JJTRC) and the historic Triple Crown is no exception.

The committee have unveiled the multimillion dollar raffle where a lucky person will drive away with a 2011 Nissan Tida Sedan motorcar. Tickets will be on sale nationwide with other prizes up for grabs including a 125 CC motorcycle, one Samsung 40″ SMART television, two Samsung mobile phones, one gas stove, one microwave oven and one refrigerator.
Raffle tickets will be available at the Linden/Soesdyke junction, Jumbo Jet Auto Sales locations at Eccles East Bank Demerara, 92 Smyth street Georgetown, Croal street Georgetown, Chester and Bush Lot villages West Coast Berbice, BM Soat Auto Sales on Croal street, Punai Pharmacy at Rose Hall Town, at Arabian Nights Sport Bar at Number 22 Village Hope Town, Discount Store on Regent street Georgetown or from committee members Chandu Ramkissoon, Alan Podmore, Nikita Ross or Nasrudeen Mohamed.
The first leg takes place at the Rising Sun Turf Club on February 18 where seven events are carded for the day in total. These include the ‘C’ Class and Lower covering a distance of 1200m for a top prize of $1,000,000; ‘F’ Class and Lower and the ‘E’ Class Non-Earners (last Start); three-year old Guyana Bred; ‘H1’ and Lower; ‘J&K’ and Lower; and the ‘L’ and Lower all running for 1200m except the ‘K’ Class Non-Earners (last start) who are set to cover a distance of 1100m.
The second stanza is a copy of the first leg and is set to run off on March 4 at the same venue while the final leg which is the critical stanza is slated for the Port Mourant Turf Club on Easter Sunday April 1.
The closing date for entries is Sunday February 11.
