Trophy Stall Badminton finals on today

Resuming on Wednesday evening, the Trophy Stall Christmas Doubles Tournament heated up at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH). With the semifinal round and third-place playoffs completed on Wednesday evening, the various finals in the doubles’ tournament are set for Friday evening at the same venue.

Akili Haynes & Priyanna Ramdhani vs Easa Sanichara & Priyanka Shivnath in action during the mixed doubles semifinals

In the Men’s doubles semifinals, Narayan Ramdhani & Jonathan Mangra took a textbook two-set victory over Easa Sanichara & Matthew Beharry, 21-15, 21-7. The other semi saw another pair of national players prevailing. This time it was Akili Haynes & Tyrese Jeffrey who overcame Marlon Chung & Priyanna Ramdhani 21-14, 21-14.

In the women’s division, Priyanna Ramdhani teamed up with Shivannie Persaud to defeat Priyanka Shivnauth & Mishka Beharry in two simple sets, 21-6, 21-14. Christina Kumar & Anna Perreira were the other pair to make it to the final, after winning 21-12, 21-18 against Ayanna Watson & Emily Ramdhani.
In the mixed doubles semis, Akili Haynes & Priyanna Ramdhani made light work of Jonathan Mangra & Shivannie Persaud, 21-12, 21-5; while Narayan Ramdhani & Mishka Beharry also sealed final spots following their 21-10, 21-15 victory over Marlon Chung & Ambika Ramraj.
In the third-place playoffs, the pair of Marlon Chung & Priyanna Ramdhani copped the podium position following their 21-16, 21-12 win over Easa Sanichara & Matthew Beharry in the Men’s Doubles division.
The Women’s Doubles saw Ayanna Watson & Emily Ramdhani taking the third-place accolade, following a three-set contest with Priyanka Shivnauth & Mishka Beharry which ended 17-21, 22-20, 21-18.
Jonathan Mangra & Shivannie Persaud are the Mixed Doubles third place finishers, as they defeated Marlon Chung & Ambika Ramraj in a tough match 16-21, 21-16, 21-11.
The conclusion of the Guyana Badminton Association/Trophy Stall Christmas doubles tournament is set for today, commencing at 5pm.
