The seven teams slated to participate in this competition are: Good Success, Sans Souci, Sans Souci Jaguars, G Square Cavaliers, Noitgedacht SC, Zeelandia, and Maria’s Pleasure.
At a simple ceremony in which the trophies were presented to the WCC last Friday at the Trophy Stall’s Bourda Market location, proprietor Ramesh Sunich disclosed how happy he was to contribute to development of cricket in Wakenaam, and wished the participating teams well as he expressed anticipation of
an exciting and successful tournament.
Secretary of the Wakenaam Cricket Committee (WCC), Nazeer Mohamed, in an invited comment, expressed gratitude to Sunich and informed that the tournament would commence on Sunday at the Wakenaam Community Centre ground.
Mohamed disclosed that sponsorship is important for development of the game at Wakenaam, and called on other businesses to support the WCC as it works to give players the requisite exposure.
Participating teams will be divided into two groups, with the top two teams going through to the semifinals.
