The main access bridge at Tiger Creek, Mahdia, Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni) reportedly collapsed while a truck belonging to Brian Tiwari was crossing on Tuesday.
Based on reports received, at about 12:45h on Tuesday, motor lorry GYY 2075, driven by Everette Panton, 43, of Lima, Essequibo Coast, was crossing the bridge when the structure collapsed, causing the truck to turn turtle.
At the time, the truck was empty, and the driver was the only occupant.
He escaped unhurt, and workers attached to the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) were deployed to the area to facilitate repairs to the bridge, since it is one of the most used bridges in the region.
