Tucber Park, Rose Hall Bakewell go head to head for title

BCB/NBS 2nd division cricketAn exciting match is in the making as Tucber Park from New Amsterdam will clash with Rose Hall Town Bakewell in the long awaited final of the 2015 New Building Society Limited sponsored forty over second division cricket competition for teams in Berbice. After a long delay due to a prolonged raining season and with close to one hundred teams taking part, the final is now fixed for the Albion Sports Complex on Sunday October 16, 2016 from 11:00h. The two teams boast several top youth and seasoned players.

To pick a winner is a difficult task with Tucber Park who will be led by national coach Julian Moore and have in their line up players such as former national under 19 pacer Niall Smith, national under 19 all-rounder Joel Seitaram, national under 17 batsman Steve Deonarine who is fresh from an century at the under-19 level, former Berbice youth wicket keeper Hakeem Hinds and the hard hitting Keon DeJesus. Rose Hall Town Bakewell will be led by former Berbice junior and senior opener James Fraser with support from former national wicket keeper/batsman Delbert Hicks, Khemraj Mahadeo, Michael Rengasami, off spinner Collis Butts, national youth pacer Sylus Tyndall and left arm spinner Ravi Narine.

The match is expected to attract a large Sunday crowd with musical entertainment in the house and ball by ball updates.

In a statement, The Berbice Cricket Board thanked the New Building Society Ltd for their continued support over the years. The statement further added that current West Indies leg spinner Devendra Bishoo and many other top players coming out of Berbice participated in this competition and it goes to show that the competition is a success. Gratitude was also extended to the print and electronic media for their continued coverage of Berbice cricket.
