Tuschen businessman found murdered in home

The community of Tuschen on the East Bank of Essequibo (EBE) was on Sunday morning plunged into a state of mourning after the motionless body of a businessman was found bounded in his bedroom.

Dead is 59-year-old Keith Richard Hohenkirk called “One Foot”.
Based on reports received, the now dead man, who was an amputee, lived alone and operated a small grocery business at his shop. He was last seen alive on Saturday at about 18:40h sitting on his verandah by his neighbour.
However, his neighbour reportedly told Police that she went to check on Hohenkirk at about 06:39h, and as she opened the front door which was locked, she observed the sitting and kitchen areas ransacked.
This prompted the woman to check in the bedroom where she made the gruesome discovery. The now dead man was found lying on his back with his hands bounded with transparent scotch tape. His mouth was also gaged with a piece of brown cloth.
Following the discovery, the Police were summoned to the scene and launched an investigation. He was picked up and taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body was subsequently taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem. Less than two weeks ago, 20-year-old Chris Persaud of Strathspey, ECD, was stabbed to death during a robbery on his electronics store.
It was reported that Persaud operated an electronics store in the area called “Deals on Electronics.
However, on the day in question at about 17:00h, the young man was in the store when the bandits invaded and held him at knifepoint during which they collected several pieces of electronic devices.
The businessman was also relieved of a gold chain he was wearing at the time along with an undisclosed sum of cash. As the men were about to leave the premises, one of the bandits stabbed the young man to his neck.
Persaud managed to exit the building and raise an alarm. He then collapsed. He succumbed to his injuries on his way to the hospital.
