“Over the last three years, there has been no maintenance of the infrastructure in this community and the roads are in a deplorable condition. All the cross streets are in outrageous conditions and when it rains, it is horrible,” a Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) Councillor said.
He said the NDC has written to the Regional Democratic Council about the situation in the housing settlement and a letter was dispatched to the Communities Ministry and the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA), but they were yet to be acknowledged.
Another resident, Ramnarine (only name given) said that they were tired of making complaints; hence, the protest. He explained that in addition to the potholed streets, the sides of the roads were not being maintained and the facilities within the housing scheme left much to be desired.
More than 50 residents, bearing placards, took to the streets to voice their dissatisfaction in hopes of having their voices heard.
The common cry was that the delivery of goods is being hindered because taxis and goods providers are refusing to traverse the poor road network.
Residents in several housing schemes have been complaining about the lack of infrastructure maintenance over the last three years.
The residents in Parfaite Harmonie Housing Scheme have also be en complaining about the lack of infrastructural development.
