Tutorial Academy, BEI secure wins in YBG Berbice Regionals

Tutorial Academy and Berbice Educational Institute (BEI) recorded victories when the Youth Basketball Guyana Region Six Ancient Regional Tournament continued on Friday at the New Amsterdam Hardcourt.
Tutorial Academy secured wins in both the girls’ and boys’ divisions, while BEI edged New Amsterdam Secondary in a close contest.
In the girls’ matchup, Tutorial Academy defeated JC Chandisingh Secondary 10-0. Jada Alexander was named Player of the Game after finishing with eight points and two rebounds.
BEI then defeated New Amsterdam Secondary 21-18 in the second game of the night. Shaquen Marks led the winning side with nine points and seven rebounds and was awarded Player of the Game honours. Bryan Kirton supported with eight points and four rebounds.
For New Amsterdam Secondary, Dominique Rodriguez scored six points and grabbed five rebounds in the losing effort.
In the final game, Tutorial Academy defeated Vryman’s Erven Secondary 36-20 in the boys’ division.
Rakeone Gladstone was named Player of the Game after recording 10 points, three rebounds and four steals. Deandre Hemerding added nine points, while Trevor Abrams contributed six points.
Despite the defeat, Vryman’s Erven’s Tabeal Braithwaite finished with a game high of 14 points.
