On Thursday, at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH), the Geo City Regionals lit up the court with energy and excitement as Youth Basketball Guyana showcased some of the country’s brightest young talent. When the final buzzer sounded, it was Tutorial High celebrating a commanding 55–5 victory over North Georgetown, with Keion Lynch playing a starring role.
Named Player of the Game, Lynch delivered a standout performance that set the tone early and never let up. The dynamic guard poured in 24 points, grabbed six rebounds, and came up with three steals, leading his team on both ends of the floor. His scoring ability, combined with relentless defensive pressure, proved too much for North Georgetown to handle.
From the opening tip, Tutorial High controlled the tempo. Crisp ball movement and disciplined defence created scoring opportunities, but it was Lynch’s composure and confidence that truly stood out.
Earlier in the week, newcomers Christ Church earned a 12–3 victory over fellow debutants North Georgetown.
In a matchup featuring two brand-new teams still learning the fundamentals of the game, both sides displayed determination and a willingness to grow. While the score-line reflected a low-scoring affair, the effort and enthusiasm on the court highlighted the promising future of youth basketball development in the region.

Christ Church was led by Player of the Game Amanzia Wood, who finished with eight points and three rebounds. Wood’s confidence with the ball and ability to find scoring opportunities proved to be the difference-maker in the contest.
Teammate Damarie Burke also made a significant contribution, adding four points and controlling the boards with five rebounds. Burke’s presence in the paint limited second-chance opportunities for North Georgetown while helping Christ Church maintain possession.
North Georgetown, despite the loss, showed resilience throughout the game. As a newly formed squad, the team continues to build chemistry and gain valuable experience with each outing in the tournament.
The Youth Basketball League Regionals are sponsored by Edward B. Beharry Ltd, G-Boats Inc, the National Sports Commission, the Ministry of Education, and Banks DIH Ltd, whose support continues to foster youth development through sport.
