UG, GDF clash to highlight 1st Division action

Georgetown Cricket continues to roll-on fine fashion and this weekend the University of Guyana and Guyana Defence Force clash should spark some interest in the GISE/Star Party Rental First Division 2-day competition when they play from Saturday at the Camp Ayanganna ground. The students will be entering the contest with great confidence after they drew with Ghandi Youth Organisation last weekend – a match in which one of their players, Devon George scored an even century.

More so, the soldiers were defeated by Transport Sports Club (TSC) by a mammoth margin of 174 runs at home last Sunday. In both innings, GDF failed to pass a 100 runs. Umpires Cyril Garnath and Flemroy Lambert are expected to do on-field duties.
The other matches will see Police hosting Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) with Hortence Isaacs and Abena Parker calling play. The other match pits TSC against Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) at Malteenoes Sports Cub (MSC) with Andre Hurry and Ravishwar Latiff in charge. Playing hours will be 09:30h to 17:30h each day.
In the Noble House Seafood Second Division 2-day, GCC will play home to TSC with Velaidum Ritney and Joseph Jeffrey in control while at GNIC, Sophia will play UG under the guidance of Matthew Kissoon and Shermilla Austin.
MSC will travel to GYO to play Ace Warriors with Linden Matthews and Stephon Josiah doing the umpire duties. Play will be from 10:30h to 17:00h daily.
