The University of Guyana, in collaboration with the National Library, hosted a two-day exhibition on the life and work of the late Dr Cheddi Jagan at State House in Anna Regina, Essequibo Coast.
The event began on Tuesday.
The exhibition was one in a series that will be held across the country to mark the centenary birth anniversary of the late President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana.
Essequibians, especially schoolchildren, were given a chance to learn more about the man who sacrificed his entire life for a free and just Guyana.
On display were books he wrote, speeches, journals, addresses, letters, newspaper articles, pamphlets, quotations and videos compiled by the Cheddi Jagan Research Centre. There were also photographic displays on the contributions made by this great son of the soil.
One of the most-talked-about documented his visit in 1993 to Singapore, where an orchid was renamed after him, the “Dendrobium Cheddi Jagan”.
