UG trumps GNIC

Noble House 2nd Division 2-Day Tournament…

In the 2-day, 2nd Division Noble House Seafoods Cricket tournament played over the weekend at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground in Queenstown, Georgetown, GNIC lost to the UG Trojans by five wickets.
Winning the toss, GNIC elected to bat first; and Quincy Richardson made a responsible 52, while David Dick top- scored with 75 as the side posted 200 all-out in their first innings.

Godfrey Thakurdin scored a brilliant hundred

Ershad Alli’s 5-46 tore apart GNIC, while Dennis Heywood supported with 3-52.
UG then proceeded to chase down 200 with ease, and extended their final score

to 360 all out. Godfrey Thakurdin scored a blistering 100, while Elton Fernandes blasted 62 and Omesh Danram chipped in with 58. GNIC’s J. Benjamin and C. Duesbury both claimed two wickets each.
With a lead of 160 from UG, GNIC partially improved their first innings total and posted 245 all out, which meant Trojans needed only 86 for victory.
Premchand Sookdeo bounced back in the second innings to score 115, while Dick made a resistant 39 despite Kierre Henry’s 4-37 and Danram’s 2-20.
