UG, Vreed-en-Hoop, Soesdyke Secondary triumph in latest action

“Hit It for 50” schools’ windball cricket competition…

Action during the course of the week produced notable wins for Vreed-en-Hoop Secondary, the University of Guyana (UG) and Soesdyke Secondary, among others, in the male and female categories being contested in the “Hit It for 50” schools’ windball cricket competition ongoing at the National Gymnasium.

Tenisha Hoyte played an unbeaten 96

The first match in the girls’ category involved Vreed-en-Hoop Secondary battling Brickdam Secondary. Vreed-en- Hoop posted a whopping 160-2 in their allotted overs, with Denicia Singh scoring 54 and Leahna Emmanuel scoring 46.
In reply, Brickdam Secondary could post only 106-1, of which Ashanti Kennedy contributed 36 and Ske Dawson 32 as the main run-getters.
Game 2 saw East Ruimveldt Secondary and Richard Ishmael Secondary playing to a tie. Richard Ishmael Secondary posted 141-0, with Akalla Rampatap again blasting a top score of 72 runs that included eight towering sixes. She was supported by Akeilah Eastman, who played a handy knock of 45. In reply, East Ruimveldt Secondary shocked their opponents by posting 141-3. They chased down the target without any challenge, and Shania Kingston led the way with 53.
In the other girls’ games, University of Guyana made 149 -1, with Akaze Thompson scoring 61 and Keisha Fraser 40. East Ruimveldt Secondary could post only 117-1, with Shania Kingston scoring 58.

Anthone Allen played a handy knock of 93

Soesdyke Secondary posted 167-1 in a match against L’Aventure Secondary. Tenisha Hoyte contributed an unbeaten 96 (12×6). L’Aventure Secondary could muster only 74-1, with Abigail Corbin leading with 54.
In the boys’ game, East Ruimveldt Secondary made 129-1, with Anthone Allen not out on 93, while Richard Ishmael Secondary could post only 103-3.
The final game of the day saw Goed Fortuin Secondary scoring 121-6, with Satyanand Persaud blasting 66 despite Zennis Woolford’s 3 wickets.
In reply, Queenstown Secondary could score only 93-0, with Ephraim Carrington leading the way with 34.
