Uitvlugt Football Club captured the Hamilton Green birth anniversary 9-a-side Inter-Ward Football title, beating Crane thanks to some spot-on penalty kicks.
Sunday’s action at the Den Amstel Community Centre ground saw the Uitvlugt 9 making the most of their penalty shots following a deadlock score of 1-1 when time elapsed.
In the end, it finished 2-1 in favor of Uitvlugt who deserved their spoils following their disposal of Pouderoyen on sudden death penalty kicks, following a 1-1 score-line at the end of regulation time. Crane meanwhile advanced after beating off the Tigerbay unit, 1-0.
Quarterfinal action saw Uitvlugt and Crane beating Sara Lodge and Soesdyke, 1-0 respectively, while Pouderoyen beat Plaisance 1-0. Tigerbay got the better of Crane Rovers winning 2-1 on sudden death penalty kicks, after a score-less 90 minutes.
In the exhibition Brian Tiwari tournament, Zeelugt defeated Den Amstel 1-0 by virtue of sudden death penalty kicks, following a 1-1 score-line at the final whistle. Zeelugt claimed the $20,000 prize for their win. In the semi-final matches, Zeelugt defeated Wales 1-0, while Den Amstel beat Bagotville 1-0 on sudden death penalty.
Uitvlugt, for their skills bagged the top prize of $70,000 and a trophy, while Crane copped $30,000 and a trophy. Esan Nelson of Crane copped Highest Goal Scorer award for six conversions and will receive a table set compliments of China Trading.
Meanwhile, top player Trayon Bobb of Uitvlugt was the second highest scorer in the event with two goals, and is set to receive one ‘Lazy boy Chair’ from A.H. & L. Kissoon. All trophies were donated by Trophy Stall.
