Dear Editor,
I refer to the full-page advertisement which was carried in your Tuesday, 16 June 2020 edition on page 2, which, inter alia, reproduced the Caribbean Community’s (Caricom’s) Logo.
Our records do not indicate that any application by the Guyana Times Inc. or any other entity has been made for permission from the Secretary-General to use the Logo. The use of the Community’s Logo in this advertisement is therefore unauthorised.
As published, the advertisement is misleading, as it would easily lead one to believe that it was placed by the Community or its Secretariat. I request that this disclaimer be published in the next edition of your newspaper.
I trust that there would be no repetition of this unauthorised use of the Community’s Logo in this or any other form, going forward.
Yours sincerely,
Leonard Robertson
Communications Adviser
Office of The Secretary-
General
Editor’s note: The artwork for this advertisement was created by the advertiser and sent to Guyana Times. We apologise for the unauthorised use of Caricom’s registered logo.
